Maricopa, Arizona (2008 – ) (visit)
The parish of Our Lady of Grace has acquired 34 acres of prime land in the heart of Maricopa for the new parish and parochial school.
The church and school will form the heart of a sustainable community with housing for families, singles, and elderly in an economically diverse neighborhood.
Within walking distance, residents will be able to work, shop, eat, play and socialize in a compact and beautiful environment. Well landscaped pedestrian pathways and bicycle paths will promote safe access throughout the project.
Through incorporating environmentally sustainable landscape techniques, such as xeriscape, hydrozoning, and “umbrellation” (making shade canopies from low water use trees), a lush and verdant microclimate will be created to increase the year round livability of the whole project.
