Pensacola, Florida (2003 – 2008) (visit)
in association with Bullock-Tice Associates, Pensacola FL
In the Summer of 2003, Saint Paul Catholic Church in Pensacola Florida asked Liturgical Environs to assist in the architect selection and planning of their new church facility. We helped to organize and administrate a limited architectural competition among qualified local firms, provided assistance to the competitors in the development of their proposals, and have since been working closely with the winning firm, Bullock Tice Associates, in the continued design of their winning entry.
The newly completed church was dedicated on 24 August 2008 by The Most Reverend John H. Ricard SSJ, Bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee. Over 1400 parishioners were in attendance for the Rite of Dedication.
The new church features both reclaimed sacred art — stained glass windows from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Oakland — as well as newly commissioned works by Wastweet Studios in Seattle WA, Mosaica in New York, Keith Johnson and Images of the Cross in Augusta GA, Vonn Hartung in Puerto Rico, Donohue Fine Arts in Sierra Vista AZ, DiStefano Ruiz Studio in Oakland CA, and Dan Simic of Pensacola.
Dr. Steven Schloeder served as the liturgical architect, designing the various major liturgical furnishings, coordinating the adapted stained glass with Beyer Stained Glass Studio in Philadelphia PA and DiStefano Ruiz Studio in Oakland CA, and orchestrating the work of the various artists, artisans and vendors.
